Zhu Guanghu Leads National Soccer Team
Zhu Guanghu is officially appointed as coach of the national football team replacing Dutchman Arie Haan who was sacked last year.
Zhu Guanghu is a former head of the junior national team and led Shenzhen Jianlibao to the inaugural title of the Chinese Super League last season.
The 55-year-old will officially take the reins for his first match on March 26 when China take on Spain in a friendly match.
China’s football authorities made clear after Haan’s departure last November they were disillusioned with foreign coaches and would look closer to home for the next candidate.
Over the past decade China has had four foreign coaches, including German Klaus Schlappner, Briton Bobby Houghton and Serb Bora Milutinovic in addition to Haan. |
